National Intercollegiate Running Club Association

UM-D Club Cross Country is a growing student organization which was founded in the spring of 2005 and consists of runners of all levels. Our club members range from casual runners to former high school all-staters. The primary goal of the club is to unite these runners within the UM-D community and to ensure that boredom does not consume those who would otherwise run alone! We provide an easy-going environment for runners of all abilities with plenty of opportunity for competition as well. The only requirement to join is a passion for running!

Cross Country is an entirely student directed club sport at the University of Michigan - Dearborn. There are no coaches, which allows us to promote student leadership through our board of officers.

NEWS:

8/30/2010 - Super Terrific Happy Weekend - Our team went up to Ludington, MI this past weekend and had an amazing time. We spent much of weekend at Lake Michigan's beach playing ultimate frisbee, swimming, and playing in the sand. Other activities included a scavenger hunt through downtown Ludington and a run/hike through the woods and sand dunes.

8/24/2010 - Order Forms - Attention runners! Order forms for uniforms, team shirts, and payment of club dues are due on Friday, September 10th. If you need to print out an order form sheet you can do so here

8/1/2010 - Fall Run times - The upcoming semester's run times are up on the Run Times page so check them out. Remember, if you can't make any of the times you probably aren't the only one. Just email Angela and she will set you up with other runners.

6/1/2010 - MIS Fundraisor - The MIS races are coming up fast and we need everyone to help out. The first race is June 13th and the second is August 15th. Remember, we're planning on camping the night before so that should be an awesomely fun time. You don't want to miss it.

4/10/2010 - Martian Marathon - Last Saturday UMDxc worked a water station at the Martian Marathon on Hines Drive. We passed water, gatorade, and of course GU out to runners running a total of 26.2 miles. We started bright and early filling up cups and stacking them three tiers high so we wouldn't run out of filled cups for the 1000's of runners that were going to come by.

4/4/2010 - Galatic Relays!! - Last Saturday our team competed against M-Run and Purdue at Ferry Field in Ann Arbor. It was a very fun track meet. The men's team took third overall, and the women's team took second and left with a trophy. For full results and times click here.

2/14/10 - Winterfest Results - This Sunday morning many runners on our team ran the Riverview Winterfest Race. We had a great showing. For the men, we swept the medals in the 20-24 division. Leading the way was Jacob Mack with a time of 28:25. However, "unofficially" he may have tied with Justin Opfermann. The women were lead by Angela Yu with a time of 35:03. She took 2nd place in the womens 20-24 division. Pictures of the race can be found here. There are a lot of them but if you look through them there are some of us.

2/8/10 - The Riverview Winterfest Race is only a week away. If you are running it, make sure you let Emmy know so we can possibly arrange a car pool for you. If you haven't decided if your going to run it or not I highly recommend it. At the end of the race you get a free pancake breakast, and after the race we are hanging out at Eric's house. So come join the fun.

12/5/09 - 2010 Election Results: Congrats to the new 2010 officers!! These positions will take effect on January 1st, 2010. Read more about the current officers.

11/27/09 - Detroit Turkey Trot - UMDxc headed downtown for an early morning Trot (10k)in the streets of Detroit. Dressed up as superheroes (DC vs. Marvel!), we joined ~12,000 runners and saved the streets from all those villians. Check out the results here or on our updated team history file here!

11/15/09 - NIRCA National Championship: UMDxc history was made once again just yesterday with 18 runners competing in Ypsilanti, MI. Congrats to Andrew Coates for winning the men's 8k race with a record setting time of 24:55! He lead the men's team to a 20th place finish! The women's team, who finished 25th overall, was lead by Ana Buia with a time of 24:52 (6k)! Great job to both teams for an awesome season! Results are posted here.

11/10/09 - NIRCA National Championship: Interested in walking the course before the race? Contact Justin about this. A group of runners will be meeting up to walk/jog the course before our race on Saturday. Also check out NIRCA's website for updates on race!

10/27/09 - NIRCA Midwest Regionals: UMDxc sent 14 runners to Madison, WI for what may be the most challenging course we all have ever ran! Congrats to Jacob Mack (30:42 8k) and Samantha Michaels (29:54 6k) who lead their respective teams. For results, click here.

10/19/09 - EMU XC Invite: UMDxc history was made this past Saturday. The women's team placed 1st at the invite with Ana Buia winning the race. Congrats ladies! On the men's side, they placed 3rd overall. Click here for race results.

Last week UMDxc made an appearance at the Big House Big Heart 5k. Congrats to Andrew Coates who won the entire race with a time of 15:26! Also congrats to Mark Waterbury, Justin Opfermann, and Gabby Boyer for placing in the top 5 of their respective age groups.

Yesterday UMDxc hosted their home meet for the season, Michigan Fall Classic. Congrats to Andrew Coates for winning the race with a new course record time of 15:31! On the women's side, congrats to Ana Buia for placing 7th with a time of 20:37. UMDxc set a new record with runners participating in a race! Way to go guys!
